Our Affordable, Durable, and Incredible Montana Hardwood Douglas Fir Flooring!

old growth douglas firDouglas Fir trees in Montana grow in a natural, wild environment known for its long and harsh winters. Our growing seasons are limited to late Spring, Summer, and early Fall. The short growing season along with the harsh climate in Montana yields lumber comparable to old-growth timber.  Montana Fir consists of higher concentrations of heartwood compared to the fast-growing coastal Fir. Heartwood is the dense, darker, and strongest part of the tree that grows in the late summer and early fall. Fir trees grown in Montana average 15 or more growth rings per inch, compared to second-growth coastal Fir which typically averages 5 or fewer growth rings per inch. These higher levels of heartwood and tight ring growth create a floor with impressive stability, hardness, and wear-resistant characteristics. As a bonus, our pre-finished circular-sawn and wire-brushed Douglas Fir wood flooring is about half the price of comparable rustic pre-finished hardwood floors such as Oak, Hickory, Walnut, Maple Ash, etc.

Known worldwide for its superior stability and durability, Douglas Fir has been a preferred wood species for flooring throughout the Rocky Mountain West for over a century. Douglas Fir has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any wood species. It has been used throughout the US since the 1800s and is often found in classic historic homes. Natural rot and decay characteristics make Douglas Fir an excellent choice in all building applications. With a 200-year-old proven track record, old barns, granaries, and western structures contain Douglas Fir that has withstood the test of time. Many of these old structures are currently being reclaimed, and the wood is remanufactured into flooring which will extend the life for another generation. The streamlined manufacturing makes our hardwood flooring affordable in conjunction with our factory-direct sales and shipping, thereby reducing costs and passing the savings on to our customers. All of our Montana Fir products are manufactured from eco-friendly salvaged timber and SFI-Certified wood harvested within a 100-mile radius of our facility, which keeps transportation costs at a minimum. Drying, milling, grading, and pre-finishing are done at one location prior to shipping factory-direct anywhere in the U.S.

With a multitude of textures and colors, our sustainable wood flooring is a perfect choice in any environment. We cater and serve to all industries; from high-traffic commercial jobs, to resort communities, residential homes, or vacation cabins.
