Wildfire – 2018 Edition

The 2018 Wildfire season has been one for the ages.  It seems as though wildfires are burning nearly everywhere in the west.  Should we be surprised?

After nearly 30 years of nearly no management on our National Forests in the United States, while simultaneously suppressing fires, we now have a powderkeg on our hands.  If you drive around our rural, intermountain west like I do, you’ll also notice that there’s a tremendous amount of land that has NOT burned.  If we don’t change our ways soon, this problem is poised to get much worse.  As a result, we will see smoke every summer for the foreseeable future.  I don’t think that’s acceptable.  I’m trying to share this story with anyone who will read, listen, or watch.

I have been actively working on putting regular videos on YouTube.  I’ll be incorporating my videos into more blog posts.  If you want to see more, please subscribe to my channel and you’ll see them as soon as they are posted on YouTube.  Here are some of my most recent videos on this 2018 Wildfire Season.  This first video in my 2018 wildfire season blog demonstrates one of the better aspects of fire season: Amazing Sunsets.
